About Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn is a major hub when it comes to shopping and transit. Train stops for the A train, 2 train, F train, R train and 3 train can be found in Downtown Brooklyn. The Fulton Mall is an outdoor mall that includes stores of various price points, including Rainbow Shop, Journeys, Macy’s, H&M, Lane Bryant, Nordstrom Rack, Banana Republic and other stores. There are also at least a couple of $1.00 pizza places in Downtown Brooklyn. There are plenty places of higher learning in Downtown Brooklyn. Long Island University has a campus in this area. There is another college called New York City College of Technology. An NYU location also exists in the area.

Downtown Brooklyn includes DUMBO and Vinegar Hill. The Brooklyn Bridge connects the area to lower Manhattan. The pedestrian part of the bridge is relatively narrow and is always packed full of tourists. There is a Barnes & Noble location that serves as a great place to grab a book and coffee from a built-in Starbucks location. The Barnes & Noble tends to have a good selection of books that veer toward self help, meditation, human experiences and appreciation of the arts and sciences.

The area tends to have a busy feel to it that feels like Manhattan, yet at the same uniquely Brooklyn. Cadman Park plaza is a relatively large park for the area that has a WWII memorial. Other great neighborhoods, such as Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and Redhook are within walking distance. In fact, these neighborhoods are so close that you can easily walk into them. When it comes to walking through these neighborhoods, it feels like they are all parts of one small world. Near the Brooklyn Bridge, it can feel the most hectic. Near the entrance of the bridge, there is a map of Western Brooklyn, with some information given about each neighborhood. There are maps sprinkled throughout the area for those who may be lost.
